“Hallelujah Hive Note” December 25, 2009
Hi Friends,
Thanks for opening the note today.
Dorothy, I, and the girls would like to wish all of you fine folks a very very Merry and Blessed Christmas and Happy Hanukah.
Having spent most of my life as a drywall contractor, becoming a merchant halfway through the century is by far one of the best moves I ever made. You have to love people though, and I will take people over blank walls any day.
Dorothy and I consider it an honor to serve folks like you. We have watched over the last seven years our customers become friends. I absolutely love the markets and I always wonder who I am going to see on a given day. I even like going to our outpost store at Green Dragon Farmers Market on a 17 degree windy day in the middle of February. If I am crazy, may I always be crazy, because I enjoy it.
Thank you Folks for your seemingly endless patience with us as we slowly get it together.
“HOPE”
What a day we are living in right now as our country is in tremendous turmoil. It would seem that right is now wrong and wrong is now right. So much seems to be all screwed up to the nth degree.
Sometimes when I’m praying, I talk to God about America and I ponder about the times we live in.
I always come out (from the conversation and pondering) proud and thankful to be an American.
If you think about it, how many other countries have liberal and conservative TV stations, two voices instead of just one? America has been in a battle against good and evil since day 1. And that is just it, there is always good and bad in this country. We are not an evil dictatorship! In the Civil War, families were fighting against families and killing each other over the right thing to do in this country.
If there was no battle, and the wicked ruled, how horrible it would be. But thank God we still have the freedom to fight for what is right.
We (America) have slaughtered the American Indians, made a business of slavery, and aborted our children, among other atrocities.
However! We (America) have sent missionaries around the world, and we are witnessing great revival going on in country after country around the world now, mainly because of those missionaries. We have stood up and fought for the innocent in England and Europe during the Nazi invasion, losing many thousands of American men and women soldiers. In fact, we have stood up and fought for many lands attacked by evil to this day. Praise God for our soldiers and righteous American Presidents!
The great USA has always stood for right, and continues to stand with Israel, which makes me proud. The Bible mentions a blessing for all who bless Israel.
When there is a crisis, Americans race each other to the rescue. For example, look at the bad hurricanes, and the twin towers in NYC in 911, such great heroism of Americans who risk their lives to help our brothers and sisters.
Last week in Luzerne county (my county), the manger seen and the menorah were taken down at the courthouse. Because of the outcry of good people, a few days later they were put back up.
When I go to the markets, I see many wonderful God-fearing people. I see other folks who aren’t God fearing, but still good people who I believe one day could be God fearing.
I meet very few ignorant, rotten son of a guns. Pray for them!
I try to see the glass as half full, always. America was founded on prayer, fasting and hard work. America was founded by people who wanted to be free to worship and live a good life.
God told Abraham that if there were only 10 righteous in Sodom & Gomorrah, He would spare those cities. Today all over the country folks are still praying and fasting for righteousness and I believe there are thousands, even millions.
I get angry some times at what is going on in our land, but I wake up each morning with new hope that all will eventually be made right. I thank God that He is in ultimate control and not man. Sometimes man thinks he is.
***I need to remind you that we will be open on New Years Day at the Green Dragon. We will be closed at the Dragon on Christmas and January 8th only.
Hometown and Green Dragon are open all year.
Looking forward to seeing you at the markets,
Mark
